Hey everyone, so obviously I haven't posted anything on here for the last two months or so, no real reason, I sort of stopped, but quite a bit has happened since my last post, so I'll try to get through it all as quickly as I can w/o going into extreme detail like my previous posts have been. I've also noticed that shorter, more direct/ concise posts seem to be more appealing than huge, detailed paragraphs so from now on I'm going to do posts like that. Enough said, let's jump into what this post is supposed to be about, my two day trip to Kangaroo Island with group from my university. We had to meet up pretty early, 5:30 - 6:00 to pile into a van and drive to Cape Jervis, to take the SeaLink Ferry to Penneshaw where we regrouped, loaded up all our luggage and piled into a new van owned by the tour company we hired, Groovy Grape, our tour guide was Tony, tall, long blonde surfer hair, total aussie bloke! Our first stop was Victory Hill, (at least that's what I think it's called), the mountain Matthew Flinders climbed only to realize that he had been on an island (what he thought was mainland Australia) for three months! Next stop was the Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Oil Distillery and Bee farm. Then Sea lion Bay. We had to move as a group and slowly, because it was mating season so the males were more aggressive than usual, and because sea lion's vision is blurred when out of the water, and as a group, we just look like a giant blobby thing to them. After that I think it was mostly driving to Flinders Chase were we spent the night. The following morning was the Remarkable Rocks, Admiral's Arch, (including where the sea lions lounge about), this semi-remote beach only accessible via a rocky, half an hour hike, and Kelly Caves (which I wasn't all that impressed with to be honest, (even though our tour guide at one point turned out the lights installed/ blew out the candle early explorers used, but also let us climb on some of it to check out where a cavern led to). We then drove back to Kingscote to watch the Pelican feeding, and get fish and chips, and finally back to Penneshaw where we unloaded, boarded the ferry back to Cape Jervis, and then back to Uni.
